Yoshirokaku(Toiwajishuzoko)

Opened in the fall of 1989, the Sedai Kaku (Sedai Pavilion) houses many Buddhist statues, Buddhist paintings, and old documents related to the Sedai-san Toiwa-ji Temple. The facility houses the Buddhist statues of Toiwa-dera Temple, which is believed to have been founded by Gyoki. The centerpiece is a standing statue of Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image of the temple, which is one of the oldest Buddhist statues in the prefecture and was created in the Nara period (710-794). Also on display are statues of the Fish Basket Kannon, Nikko Bosatsu, the Twelve Divine Generals, Jizo Bosatsu, Gekko Bosatsu, and Jusha Gongen. The Twelve Divine Generals, in particular, were created in the Heian period and are responsible for protecting Yakushi Nyorai. The Fish Basket Kannon, holding a lotus in her right hand and a basket of fish in her left, is one of the rarest of the 33 Kannon statues.
